MAIDSTONE BOROUGH DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN DOCUMENT REGULATION 18 CONSULTATION

Maidstone Borough Council has published the Regulation 18 version of its Design and Sustainability Development Plan Document, which will seek to set out policies to enhance the quality and sustainability of new development in the borough.

We are asking for your views on these and any others you think the DPD will need to cover.

We have prepared a series of consultation questions to help frame your feedback. You do not need to answer each question; just answer the ones which are most relevant to you.

The Design and Sustainability Development Plan Document can be viewed and downloaded from the council’s website:

  • All libraries in Maidstone Borough during normal opening hours

Please send us your comments using the consultation portal https://maidstone-consult.objective.co.uk/portal/

Alternatively, you can complete the response form (https://localplan.maidstone.gov.uk/home/design-and-sustainability-development-plan-document) and send it to us

Consultation opens at 4.00pm on 28th October 2022 and we need to receive your comments no later than 5.00pm on Monday 12th December 2022.

All consultation comments will be made publicly available on the consultation portal (https://maidstone-consult.objective.co.uk/portal/ ) in due course. This is so that interested parties can view all the responses that have been received. Published information will include the comment and responder name. All demographic and contact data will be removed. All data is processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. The consultation responses will be used to inform the next stages of the Design and Sustainability DPD.

 

UPDATE POSTED 9 MAY 2022

The Local Plan Review page has been put together after the feedback received from the electors at the Annual Parish Meeting, the page will contain all the information regarding the local plan and links to explain the process. As promised Her Worship the Mayor Cllr Fay Gooch sent some information to the Parish Clerk which will help all residents with their queries, if you feel anything is missing then please contact the Lisa Rackett via email

The Secretary of State has appointed Inspector David Spencer BA(Hons) DipTP MRTPI to carry out the independent examination of the Maidstone Local Plan Review. He will determine whether it has been prepared in accordance with the relevant legal requirements and that it is ‘sound’ i.e., positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national policy.

The Inspector is currently appraising the Local Plan Review and evidence base together with the representations received at the Regulation 19 stage.    All the information on the examination is posted on the examination web pages, which are hosted by the Council on their website, and the examination pages can be accessed via the link below.  The best way to keep in touch with the progress of the examination is to click on the link below and then on the Latest News and Updates page which will be updated regularly.
